Private Label Jeans Prospect

Do you want to know the prospect of private label jeans? How will it affect your jeans business? Is this a good timing to continue or to start your own private label jeans? Let's find out more..

First of all, we should know the trend of jeans market. In 1980’s, Levi’s and Wrangler dominated the jeans market and only a handful of private-label jeans were available back then. In order to compete with Levi's and Wrangler, private label jeans sold their jeans that looked similar to Levi’s at about 2/3 of the Levi’s prices. Since then, private label jeans have become popular. Levi’s men jeans market share fell by 18% in 7 years (48% in 1990 to 26% in 1997). Other than Levi’s, according to Forbes, the $18 billion U.S. private label jeans market grew from 3% in 1990 to 20% in 1998. In 2003, the private label jeans market grew to 39%. In 2007, 53% of U.S retail sales involved private label jeans compared to 25% in 1975. According to www.just-style.com, people believe that jeans will be a global fashion statement (a must have item) by 2014. Years after years, private label jeans have shown a robust growth and those of you who’re in jeans business are definitely benefiting from this trend.

Based on the information above, it's clear that private label jeans has a bright prospect in years to come. Jeans market is not saturating yet, as a matter of fact, it’s still growing constantly and becoming even more popular than before. You can sell your private label jeans to low, medium, or high income consumers and how you target your consumers really depend on the quality, price, marketing, and service. If you’re planning to compete with premium denim brands such as Rock and Republic or True Religion, the design of your jeans should resemble these brands and add your own twist to differentiate yours from them. You can also use a pricing strategy by selling your jeans cheaper than those premium brands. Or else, you can design a better and more fashionable jeans.

If you’re planning to sell your jeans to low to medium-income consumers, your timing couldn’t have been better. Because of the economic condition, many people are switching from premium brands to non-premium brands or private label jeans that offer good design at affordable price. Whether it's during difficult economies or not, jeans is an item that people will always buy compared to other clothing items.

When you try to find local or foreign jeans manufacturers in search engine, I'm sure you'll find a lot. But, it would be very hard to find a trustworthy and reliable jeans supplier. I would suggest you to use jeans intermediary to be the bridge between you and jeans manufacturers. Jeans intermediary is very helpful, especially if you cannot speak the language, don’t want to deal with the stress and headache, and don't want to get scammed. One jeans intermediary that I know is called Jeans By You that is based in California, USA and their website is www.JeansByYou.com. They can help you find the ideal jeans manufacturer in China to produce your design according to your budget and specifications. Not only that, they also deal with manufacturers that sell plain jeans for wholesale and jeans fabric. I know that they accept PayPal, Escrow, and Letter of Credit which is good for buyers. In case if you’re getting scammed or if the final products don’t look like the jeans samples, there are third party company who will help you resolve the matters. If you want no hassle and want to save time, energy, and cost, jeans intermediary is the way to go.

Private Label Jean

Are you trying to start your own private label jean? You might want to read through this article. I’ve been in private label jean business for sometime now and I have a few tips that I want to share.

In order to compete with other brands and to maximize your profit, you may want to keep your production cost low by outsourcing your jeans to countries like China or Vietnam. I outsourced my private label jean to China and it costs me around $10 per jeans. I know that there are several jeans manufacturers in the US and it’s safer to deal with them rather than to deal with foreign factory. Believe me, Chinese jeans manufacturer is still way cheaper and it’s safe as long as you’re using jeans agent or if you know the manufacturer really well.

If you don’t know anyone in China or if you are afraid of being scammed by Chinese manufacturers, I suggest you use a jeans agent. That’s what I did. That’s the safest way to deal with unfamiliar foreign manufacturers, especially if you can’t speak their language. I’ve never gone to China till this day, but my private label jean was produced in China. I’ve been using a US jeans agent called Jeans By You and they can speak English well. Basically, they act as my intermediary between the Chinese manufacturer and I. I send them my designs or an actual jeans that I want to produce, and they will get back to me with all of the information such as the cost per jeans, production time, and etc. Before final production, they will send me jeans sample so I can check the quality of the jeans. If I agree with the sample jeans, then they will go ahead with the final production. I pay them using PayPal or Letter of Credit and never have any problem with them so far. They arranged my shipping as well for extra cost.

Empirically when you do private label jean, you have to have some kind of proof that your label is yours and you’re not copying other people’s label. Otherwise, your jeans will be held by Chinese customs and your country’s customs.

If you’re planning to have custom made buttons, rivets, or label with your logo/design on it, you will have to pay extra because the manufacturers have to make a custom mold just for your design. But, that’s only one-time charge. If you decide to make a second order with the same manufacturer, you only have to pay for the jeans, no more mold costs.

Usually jeans manufacturers minimum order is 100 pieces. You can rarely find manufacturers who want to make 50 jeans. If they do, usually you have to pay extra for that. Keep in mind, the more quantity you order, the cheaper the cost per jeans is. If you order 10,000 jeans, usually they will not charge you the label fee.

Hope these tips can help you with your private label jean business.

Private Label Maternity Jeans (Denim)

Designer jeans brands like J Brand and Paige have come out with maternity denim jeans, a new clothing line offered to moms-to-be who want to be in style.

I was inspired by those designers and I'm in the process of creating my own jeans line for pregnant women. I'm trying to make my jeans as fashionable as possible (like True Religion and Rock & Republic) but with half of the cost.

In order to cut down the cost, I’m going to produce the jeans in China. Here's just a tip for those of you who are planning to start your own jeans clothing line or who have private label denim business. I've heard a lot about Chinese manufacturers try to trick you and get your money. I've found a jeans agent on Google called Jeans By You (www.jeansbyyou.com).

This company is based in the U.S. and they're acting as an intermediary between the Chinese manufacturer and I. They will handle the communication, production process, shipping and customs upon request. Don't be worried about the final product too because they will provide jeans sample prior to final production so that buyers can evaluate the quality and materials of the jeans. They can produce pretty much anything that's made of jeans for men, women, children, and baby. They work with various jeans factories in China, so they have the capability to make anything. I spoke with them and the representative can speak English well.

If you are planning to produce your jeans in China, I would recommend you use a middleman to take care of everything. Yes, you pay extra money, but you can sleep at night instead of thinking of losing your money. Jeans By You accepts PayPal and Letter of Credit for payment, which is a secure payment method of buyer and seller. Hope this helps!

Jeans For Wholesale

Here's a tip when you're researching for jeans for wholesale. Don't just enter jeans for wholesale as a keyword, you need to know that jeans manufacturers usually also offer jeans for wholesale. Thus, you can include jeans manufacturers in your keywords and you will find extra suppliers for your wholesale jeans.

Many jeans factories do things beyond producing jeans based on customers’ designs or sketches. They also produce the latest trend denim jeans for re-sale. If they don't have any catalog, don't hesitate to show the kind of jeans that you would like to buy. Most likely, they can find that kind of jeans you. If you are want to put your own brand or logo, you can buy plain jeans and add your own logo. Most of the time, they can help you with that too. You can always buy from jeans manufacturers because they are also jeans wholesalers.

Jeans manufacturers may not mention that they are doing jeans for wholesale, but most of the time they do. It’s worth asking whether they have jeans for wholesale or not. I know one jeans manufacturer who’s doing wholesale. To check the website, you can visit www.JeansByYou.com.

Private Label Jeans

Many retailers are creating private label brands. Costco's private label brand is Kirkland, 7-Eleven is selling its private label beer called Santiago, Nordstrom has a private line called Evergreen for career and casual suiting, and Wal-Mart is selling private label jeans.

Do you know why private label brands seem to be the trend today? Take Wal-Mart and its private label jeans as an example. The benefits of selling private label jeans are huge. First, the profit margin of selling private label jeans is higher compared to selling national jean brands.
